The Blessings of Overcoming

My Dear Brother, yes YOU!

I have received many tender mercies in my life, including yesterday and today.

In doing my dailies both days I accidentally came across scriptures that pertained to my addictions.  I say accidentally because these were not the actual scriptures that I was intending to read.  So I really don’t think it was accidental.  And, moreover, today’s scriptures just added to what I wrote down yesterday.

The nice thing about the scriptures is, even out of context, they are intended to inspire us. (See my post on Patricharcal Blessings)  And for that reason these few scriptures hit home with me.  So let me share them with you.  Feel free to put your own personal meaning on them.  Because your meaning is what the Spirit is saying to you.

So PONDER these scriptures:   (in your mind replace the word "overcometh with "recovereth")

Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all uncleanness; ask not, that ye may consume it on your lusts, but ask with a firmness unshaken, that ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true and living God.  (1)

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.  (2)

To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. (3)

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.  (4)

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. (5)

I hope these verses inspire you as they did me.

I testify, that for me, this was a tender mercy!
