Confession vs Repentance

A counselor in a stake presidency shared this with me.  Keep in mind, this may not pertain to anyone reading this post.  But just in case, I will share his comments.  He stated that there are some who confuse confession with repentance.  Confession is only one step in the repentance process but confession, by itself, is not repentance.

He pointed out that some people confess to the bishop.  They put their burdens on his shoulders, and then leave the bishop's office feeling like the weight of the world was just removed.  However, the next time they visit the bishop they do the exact same thing.  They have done nothing between appointments to take advantage of Christ's grace or His atonement.

They are perhaps a little to comfortable with their current situation.
