With Sacrifice Comes Love

There are laws and there are blessings. "There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."  D&C 130:20-21.

I have discovered, based on my own experience, that when we obey the law of sacrifice one of the blessings we obtain is love, but not in the way you may think. The person doing the sacrifice ends up loving the person for whom he has sacrificed--even more that he did before he began the sacrifice. That is why parents love their children. Ask any parent that has watched a child struggle.

That is why teachers love their students. That is why missionaries love the people they have taught. And that is why Bishops love those who are currently struggling. They love them because they are sacrificing for them.  Do not ever feel that your Bishop has given up on you or that he is tired of seeing you. That's just not the case. If anything, his working with you has caused him to love you that much more.

So how does Christ feel about you?  He who has sacrificed for all your prior mistakes and moreover has sacrificed for all your future mistakes--how does he feel about you? He LOVES you that much more! He doesn't want you to fail. He has already paid for you. He will never give up on you!

To quote one of my favorite authors: "The more you serve, the more you love, and the more you love to serve."
